By David Crane david(at)(dot)com March 18, 2020 SIG P365 XL ROMEOZERO was by no means the only new SIG SAUER 9mm revolver (DR) product covered at SHOT Show 2020. -rao and the biggest SIG SAUER P320 XSeries for concealment (CCW), combat and competition, and made a video on some of them (see below). Also, Sean Wilbur, SIG SAUER's strategic project manager, was kind enough to show us around the company's booth. Wilbur's new favorite 9mm Parabellum / 9x19mm NATO pistol is the SIG SAUER P320 RXP XCompact, billed as "the ultimate red dot CCW pistol". The P320 RXP XCompact is assaulted and has some cool features such as the XSeries flat trigger that breaks at 90 degrees, ROMEO1PRO red dot sight combat otpic, XRAY3 Suppressor Sights as metal suppressor sights (TUBE), limited to beavertail locking devices, the mag (magazine) capacity is 15 rounds, but SIG also has 17 and 21 round magazines available for it. Next up is the SIG SAUER P320 RXP XFull-Size, which has many of the same features (flat barrel, red dot optics and suppressor sights) in a full-size 9mm barreled pistol. of 4.7″. The final gun is a P320 XCarry TACOPS with an adjustable night sight XSeries firing magwell, a braided barrel (for the silencer/sound suppressor, of course) and a magazine capacity of 21 rounds. very good, and you can see it below. In fact, it would be great if Security Review writer/contributor and lead product tester Jeff Gurwitch could use these new guns on the site. At the time of writing, DR has not had a chance to do so. In recent years there have been a few hidden options hitting the market. Whether it's a Glock 43X, 19X or Springfield Armory Hellcat, there are many new options available. Recently, SIG announced their red-armed X series, the RXP. The new RXP gun has several different changes from the previous versions of XCompacts and they may be small changes but they make a big difference in daily use. Let's take a look at the new SIG RXP XCompact and what it has to offer.
A few months ago I had a SIG P320 RXP XCompact with me and I was wondering if the changes were worth trading in my regular XCompact for a new model. Like the original XCompact, the new RXP has a 3.6″ barrel and weighs 25.6 ounces unloaded. The new RXP comes with an "X series" flat trigger just like the previous models which is a nice change from the stock P320 trigger. Perhaps the biggest change between the old XCompacts compared to the new RXP is the subtle disconnection of the optics and rear sight. The SIG Romeo 01 PRO comes with a 6MOA red dot with a large sight that is very easy to carry.
The old XCompact also had a slide cutout for the optic, but the overall setup was slightly different. The previous generation had the rear sight built into the optical plate, which worked, but the mounting screws were inserted into the plate near the rear. Having a mounting plate next to the sight made the optical plate safer, but added to the overall thickness of the rear sight. Fortunately, the new model has separated the rear view and the optical cut, eliminating the problem of losing the rear view and the general issue of thickness. The new RXP XCompact features a long-range XRAY3 night sight with small, black tritium-coated cases and a large dot on the front. The MSRP for the new RXP XCompact is set at $999.99, but the street price appears to have dropped to around $899.99.

Now I'll be honest and say that I've had a hard time transitioning to optics on a rifle. I have no doubt that there are advantages to longer range and more accurate shooting with a point, but I spent time training with the optic on my rifle. Over the years I've owned several Glocks with Trijicon RMRs, but I've never enjoyed shooting them the way I have with the metal ones.
When I pulled out the SIG Sauer RXP XCompact I thought it was a great weapon to learn the basics of shooting with a red dot gun. The wide field of view and the 6MOA red dot make it easy to take without creating an incredible mess while looking for the red dot. Suppressor high points naturally bring your eye to where you want to meet the red dot.
During my time with the RXP XCompact, I shot about 1,200 rounds through the gun and it ran 100%, even when loaded with Wolf 9mm steel and a 115-gram aluminum Blazer . For most of my tests I used the SIG Sauer 115gr ball compound
